International Women’s Day Recognition Award
On 08th March 2021, I was among the 5 women that received recognition awards due to their efforts and contributions to the society. The awards were organized by PUMA energy Tanzania and were presented during the International Women’s Day. The awardees were Neema Mduma, Jennifer Bash, Doris Mollel, Selina Letara and Judith Wambura (Lady JayDee).
Excellence in Science and Technology Leadership Award
On 06th March 2021, I was privileged to attend the Mwanamke Shujaa event at Slipway hotel in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The event was organized by Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd and Plus TV. The guest of honor was the Deputy Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Hon. Dr. Angelina Mabula.
International Day of Women and Girls in Science
On 11th February 2021, I was privileged to attend the event of celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The event was organized by Vijana Think Tank, and around 500 girls’ and 100 boys from public schools attended. The guest of honor was the Vice President of United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan. The event was also attended by other governmental officials including the Minister of Education, Science and Technology (Hon.Professor Joyce Ndalichako) and the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam (Hon. Abubakar Kunenge) as well as prominent women scientists from Tanzania.
Sensitization Event at Muriet Secondary School
In January 2021, I visited Muriet Secondary School in Arusha and talk to Form II girls on science and technology and how female scientists can change the world. This sensitization event was purposely conducted to inspire and encourage young girls to pursue science subjects and careers in future.
Lacuna Fund in Agriculture – Award
Lacuna Fund is the world’s first collaborative effort to provide data scientists, researchers, and social entrepreneurs in low-and middle-income contexts globally with the resources they need to produce labeled datasets that address urgent problems in their communities. The aim is to supports the creation, expansion, and maintenance of equitably labeled datasets that enable the robust application of machine learning tools of high social value in low- and middle-income contexts globally.
